Loran Arthur Wamback of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, was born on April 15, 1935, and passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of Dartmouth General Hospital on February 18, 2026, at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Marguerite, as well as his brother David and sister Marilyn. Loran is survived by two nephews, Arthur and Arthur, and two nieces, Joanne and Jeananne.
Loran lived a long and varied life. In his early years, he went to sea aboard the Great Lakes ships during the 1950s. Discovering that life at sea was not his calling, he returned ashore and went on to work in management at various movie theatres throughout the province. In the 1970s, reflecting his compassionate and caring nature, he became a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role he held until his retirement in the 1990s.
Loran was a cherished member of his community, known for his gentle spirit and affection for his beloved feline companions. He will be fondly remembered for his warmth, kindness, and quiet generosity and for the love he shared with family, friends, and every whiskered companion fortunate enough to cross his path. His legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved him, and in the joy, he brought to others. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who mourn his loss.
Cremation has taken place, and a family service will be held at a later date.
