

Kent, LuLu Belle-96, of Halifax/Dartmouth passed away January 27, 2012 at Northwood Centre. Born in Tatamagouche, NS she was the daughter of the late Alvah and Rhoda (Patriquin) MacKinnon. She graduated from the Normal College and in 1935 started her teaching career in a one room school house in Murphy’s Cove. She retired in 1974. LuLu was a member of the Ladies Aid in Pleasant Point and a life member of the Woman’s Missionary Society. She belonged to the senior choir at the Senior’s Centre on Ochterloney Street, Dartmouth as well LuLu was an organist at the United Church in Pleasant Point. For many years she also taught Sunday School. She was a homemaker and an avid seamstress. She is survived by three sons, Lloyd (Helen), Ostrea Lake, Theodore “Ted” (Beverly), Ostrea Lake, Carl (Vivian), Kentville; daughter, Evelyn (Lorne) Morash, Dartmouth; brothers, Curtis(Winnie) MacKinnon, Tatamagouche, James(Irene) MacKinnon, Burke Falls, ON; sisters, Evelyn Jamison, Pugwash, Mable Henrihsen, Brantford, ON, Martha Tattrie, Oromocto, NB; grandchildren, Carolyn Skanes, Brian Kent, Darrell Kent, Darlene Rodgers, Derrick Kent, Gregory Morash, Michael Morash, Stephen Morash, Scott Morash, Andrea Abriel, Wesley Kent and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman; sisters, Alice, Ella, Annie, Margaret and brother, Parker. Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 31, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9pm in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Funeral Service will be held 11am Wednesday February 1, 2012 in First Baptist Church, 100 Ochterloney Street, Dartmouth. Interment to follow in Pleasant Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to the Northwood Foundation or a charity of choice.
