Age 94, of Dartmouth and recently of Parkland Clayton Park, passed away peacefully in the Geriatric Unit, QE II site, Halifax, surrounded by family, on March 5, 2020. Vina was born in Margaree, Nova Scotia in 1925. She was the daughter of Patrick and Hélène (Delaney) LeBlanc. Her parents passed away when she was very young. She moved to Halifax during World War II where she remained for the rest of her long life. On June 20, 1949 (her birthday), she married Edmond Joseph “Bob” Aucoin, a World War II veteran, formerly of Cheticamp. Vina and Bob were very happily married for 61 years until he passed away in 2010. Vina was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and an exceptional homemaker. She lived for her family and we will all miss her so much. She is survived by her son, Tom (Maureen); daughters, Elaine (Don) Morash and Annette (Pat) Sherlock; four grandchildren, Paul (Aimee Corbett) Aucoin, Amy (Ryan) Sherlock Brookman, Ben Morash, Kevin (Jenna Dickson) Morash, and her favorite - great-granddaughter Katie Brookman. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces and two sisters-in-law, Della Aucoin and Janet Wright. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by sisters, Julie Anne LaPierre, Cecile Chiasson, Adèle Doucet, Lucy Ann Gallant, Mary Emma LeFort and Helen Ryan; brothers, Thomas (killed in action in Italy in 1944), J. Arthur, and Arsène. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held for immediate family only at St. Clement’s Church, 16 Gaston Road, Dartmouth, Father Gerald David officiating. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
