Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late William Francis Shevery and Tina Ripley (Scaravelli).
She is survived by brother Michael Shevery (Brenda) Upper Stewiacke, NS, sister Margaret Milner (Shevery) Wright, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Maria is predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Metcalfe, sisters Lena Roy, Moncton, and Tereasa Myra, Dartmouth.

A Celebration of Life will be held at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, located at 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, NS on August 29, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
