Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Marie was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Rose Gray of Sambro, N.S.
Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her love of life and all it had to offer. She loved to travel, read, shop, garden, and spend time with her many dear friends. Curious by nature, Marie always enjoyed learning about people, places, and what was happening in the world around her.
Marie shared a wonderful 52-year marriage with her beloved husband, Lawrence, until his passing in 2011. Marie loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess, bringing family and friends together around countless meals and gatherings, whether at home or at the cottage. Together, they built a life centered on family, friendship, and creating lasting memories. Those who knew them were fortunate to share in their lives.
In her early years, Marie worked at Sears and later at Reitman's.
Marie is lovingly remembered by her son, Lawrence (Jane); her grandchildren, Ashley (Joey) and Michael (Carolyn); her great-grandchildren, Claire, Paige, and John; her daughter, Cindy (Michael) Elliott; her grandchildren, Andrew (Sydney) and Christopher; her sister, Susie Gray (Mike); her brother, Stevie Gray; as well as her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many cherished friends.
Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lawrence; her brothers, Wayne and Artie Gray; and her sister, Edna Gilkie.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of 5 West, Dartmouth General Hospital for their kindness and wonderful care for Marie.
A funeral service will be held at Saint Peter Church, 10 Maple Street on Monday, July 6th at 1:00pm with a reception to follow at their Parish Center next door.
