It is with a sad heart that the daughters of Marion Hilda Brown of Dartmouth, announce the death of their wonderful mother on March 19, 2018 at the age of 98. Born July 28, 1919 in Mooseland, Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Freeman Edward and Martha (Josey) Murphy. She was predeceased by her husband Timothy in 1968 and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A Provincial public service retiree, Marion worked for many years in the laundry at the Nova Scotia Hospital where she forged many lifelong friendships. She took up old time dancing late in life but made up for lost time by attending every old time dance she could throughout the region. Her family would like to acknowledge the ultimate comfort, care and hospice provided to their mother by their sister Karen during the past several months. She is survived by her daughters Veida Banks, Halifax, Karen Edwards, Eastern Passage and Linda Rix, Mineville; several grandchildren Kenny (Colleen) Banks, Craig (Tina) Banks, Blake (Terry) Banks, Kim (Brian) Ruohoniemi, Susan (Doug) Gunnell, Dr. Todd (Brandi) Rix, Natalie (Dr. James) Jonasson, plus 14 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marion was also predeceased by brothers, Roy, Frank, Laurence, sisters Madeleine, Connie, Helen, Florence and Iona and sons in law Robert Banks, Robert Edwards and Gary Rix. Family flowers only and donations in Marion’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice. No visitation by request and a celebration to commemorate Marion’s life will be held March 23, at 11am in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the lounge.
