

MANSFIELD, Mayola – 94 of Dartmouth Nova Scotia. It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of, Mayola Mansfield. She passed away surrounded by her family at the Ocean View Continuing Care Centre, Eastern Passage Nova Scotia, on July 4th 2014. Born Mayola Bundy in Cherry Brook, Nova Scotia on June 18th, 1920, she was the daughter of the late James Bundy Sr. and Bessie (Sparks) Bundy. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a loving and devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mayola was an active, devoted and respected member of the Cherry Brook United Baptist Church. She also attended Victoria Road United Baptist Church for many years. While attending Victoria Road United Baptist Church; she was a member of the choir, Ladies Auxiliary (past president), Women’s Missionary Society, taught Sunday school, chair of the flower committee, member of the Victoria Road Seniors Club and availed herself to any member of the congregation that required, council, guidance, and prayer. Mayola was an active member of her community. She was a member of the Christian Women's New Life Ministries, Friendship and Action Program, retired member of Dartmouth Seniors Choir, past member of Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre, and past member of Dartmouth Senior Housing Committee. Mayola won numerous awards from the Dartmouth Horticultural Society and was recognized by the Dartmouth Heritage Museum as one of Dartmouth's Memorable Women. Mom Mansfield, as she was affectionately known by was a humble and caring person; best known for her benevolent actions and selflessly devoted countless hours to being a support to people in need. Mayola is survived grandchildren, Michael (Laura), Halifax; Kimberley (Blaine), Dartmouth; Michele (Matthew), Brampton; Angela, Dartmouth; Kyle, Ottawa; great grandchildren Matthew, Yasmine, Ariel, Blaine Jr., Kylee and Matthias. Mayola is predeceased by her husband Edgar “King” Francis Mansfield and her daughter Frances Harper. She is also predeceased by sisters Nellie Fairfax and Roslene (Rose) Sparks. Brothers James, Gerald, Earl and Henry. Stepbrothers Edgar, Chester, Davie, William and Alex. Stepsisters Grace Suttle and Kathleen Beals. Visitation will be held July 8, 2-4pm & 7-9 pm in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St,. with a Ladies Auxiliary memorial Service at 8:00pm. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday July 9, 2:00pm in Cherry Brook United Baptist Church. Pastor Wayne Desmond officiating. Interment in Memorial Gardens Dartmouth. With respass to follow. Flowers welcomed. Donations can be made to Cherry Brook United Baptist Church.
