Melvin Douglas Cain

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Melvin Douglas Cain on October 31, 2025, at the Dartmouth General Hospital. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Doris (Simmonds) Cain.

Melvin was a long-time member of Saint Thomas Baptist Church. He lived in Toronto for many years working as a carpenter. Melvin returned to Nova Scotia where he became an entrepreneur in the wood business.

He is survived by his loving, devoted wife Mrs. Pearl Cain. His son, Rico; daughters, Maria, Kyla; stepdaughter, Violet (Mervin); 8 Grandchildren, 4 Great-grandchildren; his special son, Jason (Clorisa); brothers, Raymond (Evelyn), Beazley (late Jessie), Bobby, Stephen (Paula); sisters, Evelyn (late Ralph), Yvonne (Earl), Jennifer, Rhoda (Donald), Violet, Abby. His last surviving Aunt, Ethal, and godchildren, Debbie, Concheta, and Tobin.

Melvin is predeceased by his brothers, Angus (Lucille), Jarvis, James (Alvena), Ronnie (Lillian), Elliot; sisters, Marjorie (Henry), Vinna, Pearl (Walter), and Elma.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A.L Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:00pm at Saint Thomas Baptist Church, 35 Simmonds Rd, North Preston, followed by burial at Saint Thomas Baptist Cemetery.
