Michael "Mike" John Hoskin

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael John Hoskin, who passed away at home on October 21, 2026, with his son by his side.

Mike worked for Phillips Cables for over 13 years where his love for putting things together began. He was happiest when he had something to keep his hands busy, and putting together model cars was a passion of his. It was in these simple moments, doing something he loved, that Mike found happiness.

Mike will be lovingly remembered by his children, Brian (Misty) and Tanya; his sister, Marlene; his brother, Georgie; and his beloved granddaughters, Aliyah and Brianna.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Kathleen and his brother, David.

It brings great comfort to know that on Mike’s final day, he woke up laughing and smiling, sharing those precious final moments with his son, Brian. It is a memory that will be held close to the hearts of those who loved him.

Above all, Mike will be remembered for his gentle presence and the quiet way he touched the lives of those around him. His passing leaves a space that can never truly be filled. He will be profoundly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Reception to celebrate Mike's life will be held on Wednesday, October 28 from 6-8pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, NS.
