

SMITH, Neil T. - 57, of Dartmouth, passed away August 30, 2008, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Ottawa, he was a son of Thomas Neil Smith and the late Shirley I. (Roberts) Grace. Neil spent most of his life in Nova Scotia. He was active in the community of Dartmouth where he was a coach and mentor to many, many baseball and hockey players. Neil was well-known and respected in the construction industry; he worked for Dexter construction for eight years, Dartmouth Ready-Mix and Hybernia prior to that. Neil will long be remembered as an avid fisherman and as a man of integrity with a tremendous wit and a great sense of humour. He is survived by sons, Adam (Beckie Wright) Smith, of Porters Lake and Paul Smith of Florida; sisters, Sharron-Lee (Robert) Kurtenbach, of Ottawa and Cynthia (Tony) Jungklaus, of New York; grandson, Gavin Riley; niece, Stefani Kurtenbach and nephew, Michael Kurtenbach. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
