Born in Stewiacke East, she was a daughter of the late Leander and Gertrude (Crouse) Lindsay.
Olla grew up in Stewiacke East and then moved to Dartmouth to study nursing at the Nova Scotia Hospital where she graduated in 1953. Her nursing career took her to Windsor ON where homesickness brought her back to the Nova Scotia Hospital. She married Reginald in 1960 and raised her two boys in Dartmouth. Along with her dedication to her family she was very involved in volunteer work and activities at the Woodlawn United Church UCW where she became a life time member in 2004. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a positive influence as they grew up. She also kept herself busy with numerous other activities including baking, knitting, quilting, gardening, camping trips, walking, and participating in Tai Chi, skating and cross-country skiing. She enjoyed social chats with a tea or coffee and something to satisfy her sweet tooth.
She is survived by sons: Charles (Wendy) and Derek (Jennifer) both of Dartmouth; sisters: Beatrice Kinnear, Lower Sackville; Roseann Lewis, Bon Accord, AB; and brother William Lindsay, Fort Ellis, NS; grandchildren: Catherine, Alistair and Darian and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Reginald and her daughter-in-law, Janet (Irving).
Visitation will be held October 2nd, 6pm-8pm at A.L Mattatall Funeral Home in Dartmouth followed by a funeral service October 3rd, 11am at Woodlawn United Church, Dartmouth, Rev. Kevin Little officiating.
We would like to thank the staff at Parkland at the Lakes for taking care of our mother during the last year and a half and especially over the past several weeks.
