Rita (Budge) Laidlaw of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, age 56, passed away Friday, September 12, at the Dartmouth General Hospice, surrounded by family and friends.
Rita was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, and is the daughter of Helen and Innes Budge and the sibling of Sonya Budge (Anthony) and Stephen Budge (Joanna). Rita was predeceased by her father, Innes Budge, and grandparents, Richard and Charlotte Budge, and William and Elsie Warr.
She is survived by her husband, Keith Laidlaw, and their children, Jason (Lexi), Katie, Emily (Kyle), Bennet (Alison), Cameron, Whitney (Cameron), and their grandchildren, Kenzie, Mason, Donovan, Lucy, Bellamy, Hazel, Veda, Lane, Lilah, and Wyatt.
Rita was a nurse at the IWK for twenty-one years and then retired to start her Sea Glass Designs jewelry business. She was an active member and key influence in helping plant both LifeBridge and Explore Churches. Her passions were for her grandchildren, collecting sea glass, gardening, and hiking and exploring nature.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at Colby Community Church, 131 Colby Dr on Wednesday, September 17 at 7:00pm.
