Sally Frances Forbes

It is with great sadness that the family of Sally Forbes (nee Hayden) announce her sudden passing on Saturday July 26th, 2025 at the age of 86.

Sally was born in Steep Creek, N.S in 1938 to Percy and Laura (Kinney) Hayden. She worked at Zellers in the credit department and then later at the Royal Bank of Canada. She married the love of her life David on Grey Cup Saturday in 1966 and became an instant football fan as they watched the Grey Cup the evening of their wedding.

David was transferred several times during his career so they lived on Vancouver Island, in Edmonton and finally in Fall River N.S. where they retired. They spent five years living in Bermuda before retirement officially started.

Sally was an avid quilter and leaves behind a number of beautiful quilts covering the beds of her family and friends. She was an originating and active member of her church, the Fall River Chapel since the 1980's.

She will be missed by her husband of 58 years David; children Sean (Shauna) and Dawn (Eric); grandchildren Sarah (Paul), Brian, Abbie (Braeden), Libby and Sam; as well as numerous extended family and friends. She was predeceased by all twelve of her siblings.

The family would like to extend our thanks to all of her friends at the Fall River Chapel for all of the help they have provided at this time and in recent years.

Visitation will be at the Mattatall Funeral home in Dartmouth on Thursday July 31st from 6PM to 8PM. The Funeral will be at St. Johns United Church in Fall River on Friday Aug. 1st at 11:30AM followed by a reception. A private family burial will take place at Old Barns Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Sally can be made to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
