She was predeceased by her father, Leendert van’t Kruis and step-father, Richard Smith, grandparents, Nina (Francis) & Harold Slade, Cornelia (van Leeuwen) & Willem van’t Kruis, uncles, Slade - Hartley, Arnold, Harold, Kerry, Leonard, Philip, aunt, Coline Slade. She loved to garden, cook, photography, do her own building and repairs of whatever needed to be built or fixed. She loved a challenge. She worked in the restaurant & bar industry and later took and executive administration course where she worked for the past 15 years with S & C Lavalin and Canadian Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia. Sheryl’s world revolved around her two sons of whom she loved dearly and her family, her zoo and a small circle of close friends of whose friendships she held dear. Special thanks to Cathy for coming over to give Sheryl her needles and support after her surgery. She fought the fight but the cancer won. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your favourite charity or the NS Animal Shelter or the NS Food Bank. A Celebration of life service will take place at 2pm on Wednesday, September 21, in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home.
