He started his adult life as a Blue Beret Peace Keeper in Egypt from 1977 to 1979. Upon his return to Canada he joined the family business OBSCO Beauty Supplies for 30 years and then retired at age 65 after over 15 years in car sales. During his retirement he started his passion project and built “The Lighthouse” which was a 16mth labour of love.
He always had love for hockey, especially The Habs, during his life as a player, a coach and a fan. If the sun was out, Steve was always there. During his life his passion for building and fixing things was always apparent, as well as being an avid gardener. His smile lit up a room, he was open to a friendly conversation with anyone and his laughter will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his wife Karen (McPhee), his daughters Stephanie (Philip) and Melanie (Christopher), brothers Terry (Melinda), John (Sara), Leo (Marianne) and sisters Carole Anne (Stuart), Nancy (David) Patty (Grant) and Jodi (Damon). Also survived by his grandchildren Abygael, Noah, Aria and Clark along with several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by Michael and Barbara Murphy.
A celebration of life will be held on October 25th 2026 at “The Lighthouse” 5732 Highway 207 in Seaforth NS from 1-5pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
