30 August, 193420 April, 2021

Passed peacefully in her sleep. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas E. G. Young and Marguerite Mae (Clarke); husband, Wilson Stanley “Jeep” Collins and son, Thomas Hayward Collins. Survived by sister, Janet Clara (Frank); son, Christopher Howard; daughters-in-law, Giselle Ann (David) and Lisa (Mark); granddaughter, Courtney (Alexa); grandsons, Patrick (Shawna) and Nicholas; great-grandson, Theo Thomas.

Yvonne was the epitome of a classy lady; always impeccably dressed, kind, compassionate and had an infectious laugh. A Sister, Daughter, Wife, Mother, Nann and Gee Gee. A caregiver to all of us.

Born in North Sydney, NS, she spent 20 plus years as a military wife with many postings in Canada and Europe. Returned to Nova Scotia where she spent 30 plus years at Woodlawn Medical Clinic. She made many lasting friendships with physicians, staff and patients.

Special thanks to Dr. Creighton, Lisa Pettie, Joanne Sparks, Mitch Devoe (Palliative Care Team), VON and Northwood Home Care. There will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Elaine and I were saddened to hear of Yvonne's passing and want to offer our sincere condolences to her family. Through Yvonne's relationship with my Mother, we got to know her well over the years and particularly enjoyed our luncheons at Inn-on-the-Lake with the two of them.

Bruce and I came to know Yvonne when she and my mother, Catherine Rainer, became good friends while living at 1 Oak Street. We all enjoyed Yvonne's company, especially her laughter. We went out to lunch quite often and had special suppers together on several occasions. She was a delight to be around. Unfortunately, as Yvonne's health worsened my Mum developed fairly severe memory loss and wasn't able to be there for her as she normally would have been.
We were all saddened to hear of Yvonne's passing and want to offer our sincere condolences to her family. Thinking of you at this time,
Nancy & Bruce Carr and Catherine Rainer

Our families first met in France when we lived in the PMQ’s near the town of St. Avold. Our families remained close through the years. I loved Yvonne and she always made me feel so special. She and my Mom were best friends and one year I accompanied them on a trip through Nova Scotia, Cape Breton and PEI. If you can imagine - two 70ish besties and me (referred to as “the young one”at close to 50) carousing through the Maritimes with no time constraints or cares in the world, we had the best time.

I will miss you Yvonne - you will always be my special #2 Mom.
