

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2pm, Friday, July 5, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 noon until 2pm. His family will greet friends following the memorial service during a dessert gathering at the church. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery during a private service.
Alfred was born at home on his family’s farm on September 26, 1924 in Bettendorf, Iowa, a son of Albert and Juanita (Kuehl) Boeh. He attended Hopewell School, then a one-room school house. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1942. He married Lois Mae Meinert on March 9, 1949. They were later divorced. He married Mary Jeanette (Pierce) Schroeder on May 29, 1976.
Alfred farmed his family’s century farm and also established Boeh Construction in 1962. He began his business with barn and roof repair and grew into commercial and residential remodeling and new construction, including 7 years of home building in Florida.
Alfred had a passion for wood working and enjoyed making a variety of items in his workshop. He also had a passion for horses which began with farming with horses as a boy. He enjoyed building farm hitch teams and competing in local farm wagon competitions. He built Scott County’s first regulation-sized polo field on the family’s farm and established the Quad Cities Polo Club.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Mary, his brother, Lester (Bobbie) Boeh, Apopka, Florida, his children and their spouses, Christine (Gary) Gibney, Davenport, Albert (Maureen) Boeh, Grand Mound, Norman Boeh, Moline, Brian (Teddie) Boeh, Park View, and Jeffrey (Marcy) Boeh, Bettendorf; his stepchildren, Steve (Debbie) Schroeder, Lodi, WI, Gloria (Mark) Linn, Apopka, FL, Harold Schroeder, Ocoee, FL, and Wanda (Gordan) Behrendt, Port Byron; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Juanita Boeh, an infant daughter, Rachel, and an infant sister.
