Nobody defined school spirit better than Alice, at the high school level and at ISU.  Mike, Mike, Lisa and family, you have our sincere sympathy.

We were sorry to learn about Alice's death.   We have fond memories of her "sporting" the school colors of North HS and Iowa State when Lisa and Dana played in sports....she was always ready to cheer them on.   God Bless you all in the days ahead.

To the Burke family. We are saddened to hear of Alice's passing. We both worked with her and found her to be a very happy and sincere person. Alice was born in southeast Iowa and so was I. We had many pleasant visits about the area we grew up in. She always knew my voice when I called the front desk. That takes a special person to have a special talent like that. I will think of her often.

     I will remember Alice's smile. She had a spirit that was full of happiness and always welcomed a hello with huge hug full of thankfulness. So sorry for your loss as we know she will be missed greatly!

I was deeply saddened when I read this news this morning. I worked with Alice at Marley Pump and was a football coach at Davenport Assumption. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Burke Family. Alice was always quick with a smile and always kind words. Mike Engel

Alice's Family - 
So very sorry to hear of Alice's passing. I met her when I was an intern at Red Jacket and "clicked" with her right away due to our obsession with shoes/purses and jewelry. Alice trained me to do the switchboard so she had coverage while visiting her son, daughter and grandkids. I've lost touch with Alice since Red Jacket closed but I've never forgotten her or what a lovely woman and friend she was.

"Big" Mike, Mike, LIsa & families,   
So many memories,... some of my own and some from mom & dad.  When our families met and Alice was trying to figure out why I looked so familiar and then recognized the picture in Boppa's living room from the vaccine story at Ottumwa Hospital, it seemed the family friendship was meant to be.   Mom's favorite story of "Alice time" getting ready to leave.  The parties our parents & friends had & getting to play tag outside at night or playing "ghost tag".  Alice had a pure heart of gold.  It was impossible not to smile in her company.  Although we will miss her, it comforts me to know the caliber of angels we have looking out for us.  I hope they are having a great party in heaven.  Our love, prayers & thoughts are with the family.

We shared many happy memories during the football days at DCHS with your Mom.  Every time we would run into each other we always talked about our boys and their families.  She was a sweet and loving person to all she met.  Our sincere condolences to you Mike, and the entire family.

Alice and I were good friends in Junior high and Ottumwa High School.  Was happy to be  one of her bridesmaids.  Lost contact after graduation.  I remember she always loved to go shopping; she dressed to perfection.  One incident  (early 60;s) I never forgot:  She was going to wear a certain sweater but it was missing a button.  She said "Oh well, I will just go out and buy another one."  That was Alice.  
 Was surprised  to hear of her passing.  Hoped to see her at our 50th class reunion this summer.  Mike,  Roy, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
