Ashyia D. Lagrone, 55, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on October 5, 2023. Funeral services will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. and conclude at time of services. Cremation rites have been accorded following the funeral. Memorial contributions may be left to the family. Ashyia was born in Iowa City, IA on January 27, 1968 to parents, Maggie (Brock) and Willie Lagrone Sr. She grew up in Davenport, where she attended North High School and graduated among the class of 1986. Ashyia worked as a manager for Hungry Hobo for several years and attended Scott Community College as well as Hamilton Tech. She obtained her associates degree and worked as a CNA until she later switched careers and began work as a Line Tech for Oscar Meyer. Ashyia worked over 20 years for Oscar Meyer.
In her spare time, Ashyia enjoyed watching basketball and track. She especially enjoyed watching any sports her children were involved in. Ashyia was talented in crochet as well as braiding hair.
Family was the part of Ashyia’s life that brought her the most joy. She raised her three children with loving support and doted on her grandchildren. Ashyia loved the simple pleasure of putting on some music and dancing with her grandkids. She had an unforgettable bubbly and boisterous personality. Her energetic presence is already so missed by those who knew her.
Those left to carry on her memory include her mother, Maggie Lagrone; children, Aleshyia Lagrone, Timothy “TJ” Calvert Jr., Tashyia Calvert; ten grandchildren; siblings, Willie Lagrone Jr. and Michellien Lagrone, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ashyia was preceded in death by her father, Willie Lagrone Sr. and one beloved brother, Curtis Lagrone.
