A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3 from 4-7pm at The Runge Mortuary & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the family.
He was born the son of George and Loretta (Lenz) Akers on February 17, 1943. He served proudly in the U.S. Airforce. He was united in marriage to Kathleen (O’daniels) on August 9, 1980, in Eldridge.
Benjamin loved to garden, do yard work, fishing, golfing, bird watching, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Those missing him dearly are his loving wife of 45 years Kathy Akers, daughter and son-in-law Regina (James) Slama; sons and daughters-in-law Matt (Ashley) Akers, Daniel (Wanda) Akers; brothers Joe, John, Dave, and Mike; sister, Elizabeth; grandchildren, Benjamin, Amanda, Cyrus, Desiree, Logan, and Dylan, and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Stephanie Cruchelow, and brother Jim Akers.
