Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27th from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Runge Mortuary. Following visitation, a Memorial Graveside Service will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Bernie was born May 14, 1942 to Harry and Evelyn (Kuhlmeier) Masterson in Davenport, IA. He was a member of the first graduating class of Davenport West High School in 1961, and the school’s first state champion in the pole vault. He married Jacqueline Goulet in 1964 and they later divorced. Bernie served in the United States Army’s 82nd Airborne Division from 1963 to 1966. Until his retirement, he worked as a self-employed Technical Line Illustrator. He was the subject of a 1993 book by Greg Holdsworth: “The Golf Star”.
Bernie is survived by son, Scott (Karen) Masterson; daughters, Sonia and Kara Masterson; siblings: Carol (Harold) Zindel, Don (Sharon) Masterson, Terry Masterson, Ruth (Ken) Soedt, and David (Maria) Masterson; nephews: Steve, Mark, Jeff, Rick, Thomas, Jared, Zach, and Joe; and nieces: Joy, Erin, Dana, Chelsea, and Cassandra.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, James Lee Masterson.
