Betty J. Swanson

Betty J. Swanson, 61, of Davenport went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1140 East High St., Davenport. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements. Betty JoAnn Ekwall was born January 29, 1950 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Earl and Viola (Liptein) Ekwall. She lived in Davenport all of her life. She graduated from West High in 1968. In 1976, she married Ken Swanson with whom she spent 35 wonderful years. Betty was a strong follower in her church, often volunteering and assisting wherever she could. She was very talented and had many hobbies. Betty enjoyed sewing, quilting, and making beaded jewelry. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also had many special dogs over the years. She is survived by her Husband: Ken of Davenport; a Son: Jonas (Sandy) Sims; a Daughter: Tracy (Jack) Tracy; a Son-in-Law: Terry Morrow; a Grandson: Deven and a Granddaughter: Shelby. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Ekwall. She will now join them in heaven. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or to the Scott County Humane Society.
