

Beverly Jo Hoy, 79, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away April 4, 2026. Born January 13, 1947, in New Hampton, IA, Beverly was the eldest of seven children born to Pauline (Ehlert) and Donald Eckenrod. After taking the federal civil service test in her senior year of high school, she was offered a position at the draft office in Davenport, IA, beginning a lifetime of dedicated public service. Beverly worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 37 years, retiring as a Training Coordinator in 2004.
After moving to Davenport, Beverly met Sidney “Sid” Hoy. They were married on September 16, 1967, in New Hampton, IA. They shared 43 loving years, taking day trips and gardening together, until his passing in 2010.
Beverly was an avid quilter and a devoted member of the Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild for more than 25 years. She treasured the many sit-and-sew sessions and the community she found among fellow quilters. She entered into quilt shows and earned many awards. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister, Rhonda, taking cruises and bus trips, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her welcoming personality is already so missed by those who knew her.
Those left to mourn Beverly include her daughter, Megan (Rick) Kirby; grandchildren, Hunter, Hudson, Beverly; and her siblings, Jim (Julie) Eckenrod, Linda (Joe) Koenigsfeld, Rhonda Fleming, Craig (Alice) Eckenrod, and Al (Eileen) Eckenrod. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Sid, her parents, and one sister, Sue Wussow.
Visitation will be held at Weerts Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 4 pm to 7 pm. The funeral service will be held the next day, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 10:00 am., also at Weerts Funeral Home. Beverly will be laid to rest at Oakdale Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities or the Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild.
