Billy Leroy Swanson, 87, of Davenport, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Davenport Lutheran Home. Graveside services will be Monday, August 29, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the National Cemetery, Rock Island. Those wishing to attend his service can meet at the Runge Mortuary by 12:15pm. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus.

Billy was born June 12, 1924 in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Roy and Mary (Springer) Swanson
He served in the Marine Corps during the latter part of World War II and faithfully served his country for twenty-nine years. He then worked for over thirty years at Oscar Mayer prior to his retirement.
Those left to honor his memory include his children: Tim (Sandy) Swanson; Bill Swanson, both of Davenport; Carrie (Tom) Kracaw, Blue Grass and Bruce (Sandra) Swanson, WI; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and siblings: Ed, Joanne and Joyce, all of Ottumwa, IA.
