

Bogdan E. Krysztofiak, MD, 79, of Bettendorf, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 29, at 11:00 AM at St. John Vianney Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Bogdan was born on October 30, 1930 in Poznan, Poland to Edmund and Maria (Liczbanska) Krysztofiak. He graduated as a MD in 1954 then served as a doctor in the Polish Army Reserves. He went on to become a professor of Neurology in Poland. He later emigrated to Canada where he completed a fellowship in PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation). He was united in marriage to Yvonne Gerdeman on September 22, 1973 in London, Ontario Canada. Bogdan moved to Sioux City, IA where he served as the director of the Rehabilitation Medicine Department. He later relocated to Bettendorf where he continued to practice rehabilitation medicine. He was a member of numerous medical societies and his medical career spanned over 50 years.
Bogdan lived for his family and they always took precedence over everything else. Bogdan enjoyed traveling to Poland and Canada, and especially liked his times in the mountains near Zakopane, Poland with his wife. Bogdan was an extraordinary man with an infectious sense of humor and a warm heart. He also enjoyed swimming and spending time in the sun.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife Yvonne, son, Marek (Ashwini) Krysztofiak, daughters; Jolanta (Roger) Blockley, Danuta (Greg) Elliott, Anna (Mike) Tutor, 1 grandaughter, 5 grandsons, many “adopted" sons and daughters, and sister, Irena Swiderska (Piotr).
He is preceded in death by his parents.
