Cassandra was born in Fithian, Illinois, on October 17, 1935, to James H. Thomason and Adeline V. (Borders) Thomason. She was united in marriage to Ronald H. Disney on February 11, 1956, in Davenport.
Young Connie worked on the mezzanine floor at the Parker Department store. She loved selling woman’s accessories. After having her children Connie went to work in the Davenport Public School System as a teacher’s aide. Connie’s passion was working with special needs children. They brought her much joy and sense of purpose to her life. She retired with 25 years of service and was so good at being an aide they convinced her to work a few more years.
Connie was a woman of faith. She joined the Faith United Church of Christ in 1974. She taught Sunday School from 1993-2012. She loved listening and talking to friends and family. She spent years making ceramic items for those close to her. Connie was a quiet soul and yet had a Disney-Thomason stubbornness that could rise on occasion, and this would bring out her sarcastic sense of humor. Her sense of humor and eye rolling were comical and enjoyed by all who crossed her path. Connie loved laughing and had a contagious sense of humor.
She most loved being with her husband Ron and traveling to explore warm destinations like Hawaii and Jamaica. They also traveled annually to Las Vegas, NV to spend time with their family and do a little gambling. Family was always her focus and her fun, Together they enjoyed being loyal Cubs Fans and Iowa Hawkeye Fans. They never missed a game and when possible loved to attend a game at Wrigley Field or at the University of Iowa. She loved teasing and having family $1 bets on who would win Iowa vs. Illinois/Wisconsin games. She and Ron together loved taking care of their grandchildren, babysitting, enjoying overnight visits and excursions to parks, zoo or activities of fun.
