Charles Leroy Wade

Charles L. Wade, 63, of Davenport, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 20, 2012 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Living Church of Jesus Christ in Eldridge, Iowa. Mr. Wade was born July 13, 1948 in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Darrell R. and Arlene J. (Johnson) Wade. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in Vietnam. He was first married to Toni Van Theemsche. She preceded him in death in February 1972. On December 30, 1978 he married Cathy Tscherter in Eldridge.

He was a self-employed construction contractor for over forty years. He was a member of the Living Church of Jesus Christ in Eldridge and was formerly active in Youth for Christ and the 700 Club. His hobbies included camping, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife Cathy; children Timothy (Meghan) Wade of Bettendorf, Jenny Wade (Vinnie Bradford) of East Moline, Illinois and Matthew Wade of Davenport; a granddaughter Gabriella Wade, two brothers: Steve (Becky) Wade of Higbee, Missouri and John (Mary) Wade of Colorado Springs, Colorado and a sister Robin Dettman of Bettendorf.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter.
