

Celebration of life services for Coy W. Pope, 86, of Bettendorf will be 10:00 am on Thursday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 26. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Mortuary.Coy passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, March 11, 2012.Coy Willie Pope was born on March 31, 1925 in Harrison, Arkansas, the son of Ralph and Lela (Farmer) Pope. He married Bonnie Jean Kelley on January 19, 1946 in Harrison, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on August 25, 2005. Coy worked as a mechanic at Alcoa for 34 years. He retired in 1988. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed country and gospel music.Coy was a member of Alcoa Retiree Club, Local 105 Aluminum, Brick, and Glass Workers International. He served in the European Theatre in the U.S. Army during World War II.Survivors include his daughters; Anita Moore of Eldridge, IA, Sherita (John) Flynn of Moline, IL, a grandson; Joshua Nelson of Bettendorf and great granddaughter; Shelby Lynn Nelson also of Bettendorf.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Earl LeRoy.Memorials may be directed to Heartland Hospice or Rock Church of the Quad Cities, Davenport.The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and Carla at Home Instead for their care during Coy’s illness.Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.Cunnick-Collins.com.
