Darlene M. Pennock, 81, of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at Genesis East Hospital with her beloved family by her side. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 4 – 7 pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 2pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorial’s in Darlene’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the King’s Harvest Animal Rescue.
Darlene was born on November 29, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa to Harold and Irene (Wichelmann) Petersen. She grew up on the family dairy farm in West Davenport and spent her childhood helping with day to day farm life. Darlene was part of the first graduating class of Davenport West High School. She married the love of her life, Butch Pennock, on February 23, 1963. Darlene worked as the bookkeeper for Doors Inc. Davenport from 1985 – 2010. She loved to spend her free time sewing and quilt making. Family was everything to Darlene and greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and great-granddaughters.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband of 61 years, Butch; their children Scott Pennock and Cheryl Mackie; grandsons Justin (Becca) Mackie and Jared Mackie; great-granddaughters Macklynn Irene and Eilla Mae Mackie; her sister Lois Petersen; brother Wayne (Kathy) Petersen; and her cat Alvin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
