

David Leon DeSha, 77, of Blue Grass passed away on Monday January 23, 2017. Per his wishes cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be from 3-5PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017. Memorials may be made to Kings Harvest Homeless Shelter. David was born on August 3, 1939 in Hillview, IL the son of James and Mina (Morgan) DeSha. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Staats on June 19, 1961 in Hillview, IL. She preceded him in death. David worked at Pepsi Company, Davenport retiring after 32 years of service. He will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. He enjoyed helping the homeless and volunteering at Vander Veer Botanical Park. David’s smile was infectious and he never met a stranger. He also enjoyed bike riding and spending time at Northpark Mall. During the time he spent at Vander Veer Park and at Northpark Mall he met many people, many of which became friends. David was handy and known as a “jack of all trades.” Those left to honor his memory include his children, Trisha Ann (Jeff) Tank and Jerry Dean (Jennifer) DeSha; grandchildren: Jeremy, Josie, Elizabeth, Megan and Samantha; siblings: Charles, Larry, and Donita Young: and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son Gale Leon, grandson Kyle Ray Bennett, and brothers Donald, Randal, LeRoy and Carl.
