Cremation will be done with a celebration of life will be held 1-3pm Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Bettendorf Christian Church, 3487 Towne Pointe Dr. Bettendorf, IA. A second celebration of life will be 1-3pm Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Peterson Funeral Home Carlisle, IA Burial of ashes will follow at 4pm Saturday, September 24, 2022 in the Lowman Cemetery, Runnells, IA.

David was born the son of Clarence and Ethel (Miller) Huffaker on November 9, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1967-1971. He worked for General Services Administration and retired as the building supervisor after 26 years of dedicated service. He married the love of his life, Shelley Freel on September 22, 1972 in Runnells, Iowa.
He was an avid member of the Bettendorf Christian Church. He loved to play guitar, trout fish, camp, and pretty much loved anything to do with the outdoors. He was a Jack-Of-All-Trades and could fix just about anything.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shelley Huffaker; son, Todd (Bethany) Huffaker of Bettendorf, IA; daughter, Heather (Todd) Vlasek of Mt. Vernon, IA; six grandchildren, Sydney & Brody Ulch, Breyona and Aubree Vlasek, and Sam & Greta Huffaker; sister, Jody (John) Rains of Urbandale, IA; and brother-in-laws, Ted (Susan) Freel of Pueblo, CO and Randy (Gayle) Freel of Indianola, IA.
