Dorothy Jean Luebbe, 84, of Taylor Ridge, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Avonlea Cottage in Milan. Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 11:30 am. Visitation will be at the church from 10 am until 11:30 am.
Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to the church.
Dorothy was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on February 21, 1941. She was the daughter of Victor and Esther (Buch) Kruckenberg. She was united in marriage to Dr. Dennis Lee Luebbe on September 24, 1960, in Davenport. Together they raised seven children on the family farm where she always gave a helping hand. Later, she went to work for her husband’s chiropractic center for 18 years and retired in 2004.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island where she was active in the bell choir. She enjoyed playing horseshoes, cards with her sisters, going to Jumer’s Casino, crocheting and in earlier years, playing on a bowling league.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons: Thomas William (Brenda) Luebbe, Illinois City, IL; Craig Allen (Trina) Luebbe, Taylor Ridge, IL; Brian Keith (Stacy Lynn) Luebbe, Illinois City; daughters: Rhonda Jean (Michael) Whitney, Taylor Ridge, IL, Brenda Lee (Scott) Lloyd, Reynolds, IL, Leslie Ann (Steven) McCoy, Davenport and Lori Lynn (Thomas) Nipper, Seaton, IL; grandchildren: Scott, Lance, Jacob, Rebekah, Brandon, Cody, Chase, Taylor, Rylee, Justin, Breann, Nathaniel, Noah, Maddie and Kaydence, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and sisters: Elaine Albertson, Dysart, IA, Marilyn Luebbe, Davenport and Diana Baetke, Eldridge, IA.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by sisters, Katie Baker and Georgie Coontz and a brother, Leon Kruckenberg.
