Francis Earl Winters

Funeral services will be 2:30 PM, Friday, June 15, 2012 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held Friday, from 11:30 AM until service time at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Francis was born to Vernon and Beulah (Swigart) Winters on July 14, 1948 in Davenport at Mercy Hospital. He married Rosemary Jane Marvin on January 31, 1971 in California.

Francis enjoyed joking, telling stories and playing cards. He enjoyed entertaining and loved being the center of attention. Francis loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved the thought of seeing the next generation of the family growing up.

He is survived by his five daughters; Rosemary (Robert) Myers, Eldridge, Shirley “Vickie” McCombs, Davenport, Paula (Judd) Raymond, Surprise, Arizona, January (Mark Wallace) Winters, Davenport, and Linda (Greg Burroughs) Winters, Davenport; grandchildren, Dustin, Martin, Tyler, Chance, Jonathan Coty, Jessus, Devin, Alex, Cheyenne, Anaktren, Frankie, Matt,Madison, Kameron, Jayden, Alita, Kyra, and Tatum; great grandson Chase; sisters, Barbara (Dick) Tuthill, Rock Island, Mary (Marv) Remley, Davenport, Linda Allen, Davenport, Kathleen (Paul) Gulick, Davenport, IA, and Margaret Winters, Davenport; half sisters, Cheryl Hillman, Davenport, and Carol (Kevin) Peterson, Davenport; brother Edward (Tara) Winters, Augusta, GA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jerry, David, and Gary Winters, son Francis Earl Winters, Jr., and granddaughter Pyper Lily.

Leaving behind to help heal the family is his dog Lady, his mother-in-law Shirley Hemminger, several nieces and nephews, and many, many cousins.
