Gerald W. Kundert, 89, of LeClaire, IA passed away at his home of 44 years surrounded by family on Friday, January 23, 2026.

The family will greet friends 4-7pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Runge Mortuary & Crematory Davenport, IA. Gerald's funeral service will be 12:00 pm Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Jack Cemetery LeClaire, IA. Gerald was born May 15, 1936, in Davenport, IA to Marvin & Dorothy (Ball) Kundert. He was united in marriage to Joan Biles on January 28, 1984, in Davenport, IA. Gerald had been employed as a custodian in the Pleasant Valley School System prior to his retirement.

In earlier years Gerald had been involved in Go- Kart racing, enjoyed fishing, collecting, bike riding, and working in the yard. He was true handyman who loved to do metal working welding sculptures, building things with wood, and generally fixing things. He enjoyed his numerous grandchildren, four legged friends, and sitting by the firepit with family and friends sharing a cold one. He always seemed to have a smile on his face and loved to share his sarcasm.

Gerald is survived by his wife Joan, sons Jon (Amy) Kundert of LeClaire, IA, Roger (Angel) Kundert of Bettendorf, IA, Jimmy (Jen) Kundert Milan, IL, daughter Shirley (Bill) Sparks Earlville, IL, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson Clyde, brother Marvin Kundert of Moline, IL, and 4 furry buddies Gypsy, Jazz, Bentley, & Lillie.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin & Dorothy Kundert, Brothers Steve Kundert, & Butch Kundert, Sister Judy Holmer, Sons Jerry Kundert, Chris Kundert, & David Kundert, Daughter Susie Kundert, grandson Damion & life long friend Robert Munro.
