Gerda Emma Maria Dirth

Gerda Emma Maria Dirth, 88, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Crest Health Center in Davenport. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00 am at Faith United Church of Christ in Davenport. Private inurnment will take place in the National Cemetery, Rock Island. Gerda was born February 17, 1928 in Bremerhaven, Germany; the daughter of Hermann and Kaethe (Rathjens) Struckmann. She was formerly married to William E. Heuer of Davenport. She later married Gerald E. Dirth; he preceded her in death. She had worked for many years at Oscar Mayer prior to her retirement. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed going antiquing. She also was an avid gardener; especially flowers. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Brian (Jean) Heuer, Gaylord, MI; Bruce Heuer, Davenport and Doris Heuer and her husband, Michael Hersh, Chicago; grandchildren: Ryan (Carla) Heuer, Joe (Amy) Heuer and Leah (Adam) Fay; and her great grandchildren: Leo, Lula, Arlo, Connor, Lana, Ava, Calvin and Lincoln. Her parents preceded her in death.
