

Funeral services for Harold B. Cochran, 90, of Davenport will be 10:30 am on Monday at Newcomb Presbyterian Church, Davenport. Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Long Grove. Family will greet friends on Sunday from 1:00 pm to 3:00pm at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, where Masonic Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm by the Iowa Memorial Lodge #2,Bettendorf IA. Harold passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Manor Care, Utica Ridge, Davenport. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary assisting family with arrangements.Harold B. Cochran was born on October 8, 1921 in Bedford, Iowa, the son of Walter and Hannah (Geagley) Cochran. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1939. After graduation he worked for Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), he then worked at Cudhay Packing Plant for a few years and then was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942. There he served in the U.S Army Signal Corp where he spent 30 months in Calcutta, India. He was discharged in 1946. He married Pearl Riepe in 1946 in Troy, KS, they were later divorced. He later married Wilma Veatch in Naples, FL. He then married Jane McGuire on November 29, 1985. He farmed for 13 years and worked 22 years with the U.S Postal service carrying mail throughout Creston. He retired on January 2, 1982.Harold was a 4-H Leader, he served as Past Elder & Deacon of the Platte Center Presbyterian Church and then Deacon at Creston 1st Presbyterian Church. He was currently a member of Newcomb Presbyterian Church, Davenport. He was also a member of Theodore J. Martin VFW #1797 in Creston, Iowa, and the Masonic Lodge in Cromwell, then Afton and most recently in Creston. He was also a member of the Lakeshore Golf Country Club.Harold enjoyed golfing, woodworking, gardening, watching TV westerns and bowling. He bowled since 1960 and was Secretary of the Men’s Association for 3 years, Secretary of the League for over 25 years and won State Senior Men’s Singles and all events in 2005.Survivors include his wife Jane, of Davenport, daughters; Linda Cochran of Creston, IA, Mary (Max) Denton of Afton, Kathy (Joe) Schuster of Adel, son; Paul (Cindy) Cochran of Creston, step daughters; Kathleen (Ted) Sandrock of Davenport, Susan (David) Stanton of Longview, TX, Ann (John) Bateman of Lewis Center, OH, Janet (Derrick) McKnight of Evansville, IN, Maureen (John Hessler) McGuire of Oconomowoc, WI, step-sons; Michael (Cheryl) McGuire of Davenport, John McGuire of Stillwater, OK, David (Terrie) McGuire of Spring, TX, and Joseph (Jayna) McGuire of Polk City, IA. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 18 step grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren, sisters; Faye Farrens of Rapid City, SD, Lil Clayman of Lakeland, FL, Anna Wetuski of Omaha, NE, and Clarice Reed of Savannah, MO.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Bailey and Summer, brothers; Hank Cochran and Walter Cochran.Memorials may be made to Newcomb Presbyterian Church or the Honor Flight Network.Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.Cunnick-Collins.com.
