Hobert A. Henry, 87, of Davenport, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Genesis East Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Christ United Methodist Church, Davenport. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Hobert was born on September 20, 1935 to Hubert and Gladys (Davis) Henry. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957. Hobert was united in marriage to Willie (Mae) Ruehling on April 6, 1957 in Ringgold, GA. Hobert began his working career at the Black Hawk Foundry. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a Foundry Supervisor in 2005, after 38 years of employment.
Hobert was involved in his community throughout his lifetime. He was an active member at Janes Place and volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Hobert was particularly active at Christ United Methodist Church. Other organizations he gave his time to include Salvation Army and Up with Families.
As Hobert’s children were growing up, he coached baseball and took them to various events where they made cherished memories together. Hobert also enjoyed watching sports; he was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Tennessee Titans, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Most of all, Hobert was a light hearted and fun loving person who never met a stranger.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Willie; children, Austin (Wendy) Henry of Davenport, Pamela Meeks of Gruetli-Laager, TN, Beverly (John) Sammon of Davenport, Jennifer (Corey) Puck of Davenport; grandchildren, Keith (Jessica) Moeller, Rebecca (Rickey) Harvey, Sarah (David) Brown, Brittany (Travis) Barrett, Jared (Monica) Meeks, Ethan (Shannon) Meeks, Megan (Joe) Grubbs, Laura McCaughey, Kayla Cornett; sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry (Debbie) Henry, Jack (Norma) Henry; one sister, Bonnie (Butch) Meeks and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Reatha Jacks, Elizabeth Privette, Betty Patterson and a son-in-law, Dwayne Meeks.
