Howard "Bud" Thompson Jr.

Howard B. “Bud” Thompson, Jr., 84, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, January 08, 2014 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice house in Bettendorf. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.

Bud was born April 27, 1929 in Davenport, the son of Howard B. and Lulu M. (Downing) Thompson, Sr.

He was united in marriage to Jewel M. Jones, the mother of his children, on November 15, 1947; she preceded him in death on February 28, 1999. He then married Shirley M. Hoon on July 6, 1999; she preceded him in death on May 28, 2004. He married Rosemary (Langfeldt) Frett on January 1, 2005.

He loved bowling, golfing, camping, playing cards; especially euchre and boating. In his early years, he raced at Cordova and had a car in the Steve McQueen movie, “Bullitt.” He also was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Rosemary; sons: Ricky B. (Linda) Thompson, Perris, CA; Dennis L. (Mary) Thompson, Bettendorf and Gary V. (Cheryl) Thompson, Silvis, IL; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. In addition to his wives, Bud was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jane Marie and a sister, Mary Thompson.
