Howard L. Townsend, 91, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Howard was born on November 3, 1926 in Davenport, Iowa to Thomas and Vivian (Dellet) Townsend. He was united in marriage to Marie Smith on March 15, 1952 in Davenport. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until her passing in 2011. He retired from Alcoa in 1989 after 43 years of service. Howard was a 33rd degree Mason and was very involved in all branches of the Masonic Organization. He will be remembered as a resourceful, loving, giving man. Howard is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Townsend; son, Tim Townsend; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and special friend, Mardell “Marti” Peters. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; sons, Lee Mounsey and Terry Townsend; daughter, Jeanne Herman; granddaughters, Brandy Leigh and Christie Lynn; five brothers and one sister.
