Irene Saur-Jones, 99, of Coralville, IA, formerly of Davenport, Iowa and Sun City, Arizona, died Saturday, February 24th, 2018. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday, March 4th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Coralville, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Community of Christ or to Outreach International.
Irene was born in 1918 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Myron and Annie Robinson, She married John J. Saur on June 21, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa. She was widowed in 1984. On September 15, 1990 she married Charles Jones in Davenport. He preceded her in death in 1999. She worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 17 years and was a church organist for 42 years.
Her family includes sons, John M.(Charlene) Saur of Iowa City and Ronald G. (Cheryl) Saur of St. Charles, MO; stepchildren Steve (Jan) Jones of Blue Springs, MO, and Lori (Bob) Iossi of Carol Stream, IL In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her stepdaughter Merilee DuFault, a brother and a sister.
