

Jerold “Jerry” D. Clemmens, 94, passed away on November 4, 2025, in Davenport, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 8, 2025, at St. John's United Methodist Church at 11 am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Memorials may be made in Jerry’s name to St. John's United Methodist Church or St. Jude’s Children's hospital. Jerry was born on January 28, 1931, in Davenport, Iowa to Harold and Dorothy (Holst) Clemmens. On June 30, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joanne Guyer at St. John's United Methodist Church in Davenport, Iowa which became the family’s foundation of faith. Jerry served his country in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1953 serving on the USS Piedmont where he honed his skills as a machinist. He worked at Swan Engineering and Machine Company for 43+ years as a tool & die maker and shop foreman. Even after retirement, he used his skills to help others in any way he could. He was a machinist’s machinist.
Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, competitive shooting (he created a rifle bullet casing stripper clip that sold nationwide), building and flying RC airplanes and he was a licensed private pilot. Over the years he was a member of Milan Rifle Club, Davenport Shooting Association (Schuetzen Gun Club), Lindsay Park Yacht Club, Davenport Radio Control Society, Erie RC Club and most recently enjoyed walking and visiting with many friends at Northpark Mall. They regularly held “Friday board meetings”. Most importantly, he loved people, especially his family. He enjoyed happy hour amongst family and friends at his basement bar creating many special memories. Jerry was a wonderful man; he was dearly loved by everyone that knew him. He was especially proud of his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Tom (Carol) Clemmens, Kimberly (John) Chant; sister, Marcia (Jon) Evers; grandchildren, Heather Wolf, Blaine Clemmens, Alisha Stoltz, Melissa Clemmens, Hannah Bildstein, Stephen James Zbornik, Joel Schluensen, Jody Egolf, Joshua Egolf, Zachary Kern, Rachael DeBuysere, Joseph Kern, Tom Chant, Stacey Gamet; 21 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joanne; daughters, Kathy Schluensen, Paula Egolf and sister, Rita Thomsen.
