

Funeral services for Jerry D. Coy, age 70, of Davenport, IA will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Mr. Coy went home to live with the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2009. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.Jerry D. Coy was born in Arlington, SD on February 27, 1939, the son of Carl and Mary (Liebsch) Coy. He married Ruth Stiles on May 30, 1962 in Arlington. Mr. Coy served as a Private in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon completion of his military duties, he began work as a Teamster for Valley Construction Co. until he was forced to retire in 1982 due to heart problems. In 1998 he received a heart transplant, which gave him eleven more years with his family.He is survived by his Wife: Ruth Coy of Davenport; a Daughter: Melissa (David) Coy-Lacy of Davenport; a Son: Michael Coy of Davenport; two Grandsons: Jeremy Hubbard and Deric Hubbard; 1 Great-granddaughter: Mya Hubbard; three Step-grandchildren: Martez Lacy, Shounda Lacy, and DJ Lacy; four Step-great grandchildren: Jevae Lacy, Daesheanna Lacy, Jessany Lacy, and Shaylynn Lacy; a Sister: Mary Goodfellow of Bruce, SD; three Nieces: Tony Coy, Gay Lynn (Jed) Eckman, and Janet (Doug) Basye; and numerous others who saw Jerry as their UncleHe was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Del Coy.Memorials may be directed to the family.The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the excellent care and the many personal acts of kindness towards Jerry, and to them as a family, during the past twelve years of his illness.
