A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 2 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Monday from noon until the service. His final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. Memorials can go to the DAV or Boystown.
John was born July 26, 1950 in Ohio, the son of John Charles Sr. and Ella (Ross) Grubb. After high school, he went on to serve in the US Marine Corps retiring as a Master Gunnery Sgt. on October 1, 1996 after 25 ½ years of faithful service. After retiring from the military, he worked part-time for Winn Dixie Grocery Store in Florida. He was an avid volunteer and greatly enjoyed being a volunteer for the Lee County Florida Sheriff’s Department where he was Volunteer of the Year in 2009. In his retirement he loved watching poker on tv, target shooting and was quite the pool player and golfer in his younger years. He loved animals; especially dogs.
He married Virginia Eischeid on November 30, 1996 in Clewiston, FL.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ginny, daughter, Sherry (Sevaughn) Mines, NC, granddaughter, Baby Bunso, NC, stepson, Patrick Burke, Bettendorf, brother, Gary (Barbara) Grubb, Missouri, niece Amie (Jeff) Neuenschwander, Kansas, nephew, Mike Grubb, Kansas, great nephew, Tyler (Rachael) Terrono, currently serving his country in the Marine Corps in California, sister, Jill (Duke) Kravitz, many special friends and his beloved dogs, Rosie and Sally.
His father, mother Ella Stranahan, two brothers, one sister, an infant daughter and his in-laws: George and Juanita Eischeid of Florida preceded him in death.
