John H. Hume Jr.

John was born on June 29, 1943 to parents John Hume and Frances (Spencer) Hume in Moline, IL. He obtained his GED and joined the workforce as a CNC Machinist. Throughout his life, John worked for various companies, including International Harvester, Red Jacket Mfg Co., and John Deere. He officially hung up his hat in 2009.

John married Sandra "Sandy" Russell on July 31, 1965, in Rock Island, IL. Their marriage spanned over 60 years, during which they raised three children and enjoyed the addition of many beloved grandchildren.

In his personal time, John found joy in woodworking, reading, tinkering in the garage, and tending to the roses in his backyard. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John also had a passion for riding bikes with his family and, together, they enjoyed volunteering for Ride the River.

John was known for his humorous nature and light-hearted spirit. He is deeply missed.

Those left to honor his life include his beloved wife, Sandy Hume; children, Richard (Karen) Hume, Heather (David) Gluba, Michelle (Drake) Lassuy; grandchildren, Brittany, Austin, Aubrey, Lauren, Logan, and great-grandchildren, Jared, Erica, Jaxon, Rayleigh, Watson, and Sade.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Frances and Katherine.
