

Kenneth Wayne Lorenz, Sr., 89, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at his home in Davenport. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 2:00 pm at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family or to Habitat for Humanity Restore. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Wayne was born May 26, 1926 in Tampa, FL; the son of Albert and Martha (Schulse) Lorenz. He was united in marriage to Peggy Peel on July 20, 1947 in Davenport. He loved hunting, fishing and telling stories. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He built his current house with his own hands. He also enjoyed cooking and baking traditional German cookies at Christmas time. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Colmar Pocket, Germany and was a hero, having received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Award. Prior to his retirement, Wayne owned and operated Lorenz Plastering Company for many years. Survivors include his wife, Peggy; Davenport; his children: Vicki Lorenz, Patricia (Keith) Hildebrant and Deb (Gary) Lopshire; grandchildren: Sue Salgado, Shelby (Brian) Berry, Kyle Hildebrant, Sabrina (Geoff Anderson), Hildebrant; Josh (Becky) Lopshire, Patrick Hildebrant, Mackenzie (Dillon) Lopshire; great grandchildren: Ethan Berry, Zachary Berry and Brianna Thorndike and his beloved companion Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kenneth Lorenz, II and grandson, Rusty Lorenz.
