Kenneth “Kenny” Leslie Puck, 84, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly in LeClaire, Iowa, on May 6, 2025. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on May 21, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Happy Joe’s Kids Foundation, benefiting the Children’s Therapy Center of the Quad Cities.
Kenny was born on September 9, 1940, in Davenport to Harold and Leona (née Arp) Puck. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1958 and went on to study agriculture at Iowa State University.
After returning home from ISU, Kenny worked on the family farm outside Walcott, Iowa, eventually taking over the operation after his father’s passing in 1974. He farmed for two decades before the Farming Crisis of 1985 forced him to step away. Kenny then began working for the USDA and also became a beloved bus driver for the Davenport Community School District, primarily transporting special needs students. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact - he hosted annual Christmas parties for the children and remained in contact with many of them well into their adulthood. Even in retirement, Kenny couldn’t sit still for long. He found joy in working for NAPA Auto Parts, delivering around the Quad Cities. His warmth and good humor earned him the admiration of both colleagues and customers alike.
Kenny had many passions: he loved caring for his yard, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, and woodworking. He was active in his community, serving as President of the Lions Club, a board member of Dads Club Baseball, and chairman of Walcott Day. He was always eager for conversation—whether with his children, neighbors, or a stranger at the store, Kenny never missed a chance to connect.
He will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul who lived by the Golden Rule and cherished his family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to cross his path.
Kenny is survived by his four children: Brad Puck, Lonny (Jean) Puck, Brenda (Sonny) Dohrmund, and David (Claire) Puck; grandchildren: Becky, Tanner, Madi, Addison, Lauryn, Raegan and Ruby; great-grandchildren: Lily, Johnny, Ryinn and Kynleigh; and dear loved ones Jeanine, Dylan, and Katelynn Simmons, who will miss him deeply.
