Lillie Mae Taylor

Lillie M. Taylor, 82, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Davenport Lutheran Home with her beloved family by her side. Services to honor Lillie’s memory will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 1pm; visitation will be before the service starting at 12pm at Weerts Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Pine Hill Cemetery. Memorials in Lillie’s name may be made to the family.

Lillie was born on July 10, 1940 to Willie and Linah Patterson in Malcom, Mississippi. Following her schooling, she was united in marriage to Tony McNeal, Sr.; he preceded her in death. Lillie later married George Taylor; he also preceded her in death. Lillie loved to cook and that led her to be a cook at one of the local nursing homes for 10 years. After she stopped working, Lillie enjoyed being the “neighborhood Mom”, she had an open door policy and enjoyed caring for those around her. She loved to play bingo, fishing, and dance to music while doing everyday activities. Her cooking will be missed very much.

Those left to honor her memory are her children Benita (Donnie) Bates, Carla (Mark) Spears, James (Kim) McNeal, Debra McNeal, Tony McNeal, and William McNeal; 20 beautiful grandchildren; 34 beloved great-grandchildren; two very special nieces Sharina McNeal and Patricia McNeal; and three grandchildren that she raised: Shamela, Shantia, and Johnathan.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, two daughters Almeda and Kathleen, a son Lloyd Patterson, a grandson James McNeal-Rocket, and her only sister Sarah McNeal.
