Margaret "Marge" R. Brown

Funeral services for Margaret R. "Marge" Brown, age 88, of DeWitt, and Charlotte, IA will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. Burial will be in the Assumption Cemetery, Charlotte. The family will greet friends on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Brown died on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service in Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.Margaret Ruddy was born on January 6, 1921, to William and Margaret (McGinty) Ruddy in Clinton, IA. She attended the former Mount St. Claire College in Clinton prior to being married to John M. Smith. Following his death, she married her old pal, Joe R. Brown in July of 1981 in Clinton. He preceded her in death in December of 2000.Mrs. Brown worked for many years as a moving consultant for North American Van Lines in the Chicago area. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt, enjoyed playing cards and, was active in several bridge clubs, loved to quilt, and in earlier years enjoyed riding horses.Survivors include - 2 Sons: John Smith of Itasca, IL, and James P. (Lynn) Smith of Beverly Hills, FL; 2 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: William and Joe.Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt.01
