

Funeral services for Marian A. Breinich, 88, of Davenport, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and additionally from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Breinich died on Sunday, March 28th at Manor Care, Utica Ridge. Marian Alice Miller was born on September 2, 1921 in Davenport, the daughter of Harry and Mildred (Quinn) Miller. She graduated from the former Davenport High School in 1939 and went on to marry Charley L. Breinich on February 7, 1941 here in Davenport. He preceded her in death in March of 2006. Mrs. Breinich was a housewife, homemaker, and most of all Mom. She was baptized in 1921 at the First Presbyterian Church where she remained active throughout her entire life. In 1963, she was instrumental in starting pre-school classes at the church for the handicapped. Marian was also active at the Fairmount School for the handicapped, Garfield Elementary PTA, the Association For Retarded Citizens, the Boosters Organization at the Handicapped Development Center, and, the Quad Cities Quilters Guild. Surviving members of the family include - her 2 Sons: John Breinich of Honolulu, HI, and Dan (Elizabeth) Breinich of Davenport; a Sister: Janet Cuenca; a Brother: James (Louise) Miller; 2 Grandchildren: Kathlynn (Brian) Price and Robert Shawver; and 2 Great-Grandchildren: Aidan and Keian. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a daughter Mary.In lieu of flowers, memorial may be left to the First Presbyterian Church Music Ministry or the Handicapped Development Center.
