Services for Marilyn will be held at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, IA. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 10. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 11 with Dave Kirchner officiating. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park.
Marilyn was born on October 13, 1935, to Earnie and Irene (Francis) Weaver on her grandparents’ farm near Bloomfield, Iowa. She was the oldest of three children. Marilyn graduated from Davenport High School in 1953. She married Raymond Albers on June 12, 1954, and lived in Davenport, IA, with their two children, Randy and Dayna. They divorced in 1982. Marilyn married Carl Beckman in 1988, and the two resided in Moline, Illinois.
Marilyn worked outside the home, made dinner every night for her family and maintained a spotless home. She was a shining example of a woman who really did it all in a time when not many women attempted it. Throughout her life, she also was an active member of the Church of Christ. She helped during the construction of the first Central Church of Christ building, where she attended for many years. After moving to Illinois, she became a member of Moline Church of Christ.
Throughout her professional career, she worked as an administrative assistant for several insurance companies. Her attention to detail and perfectionism made her an excellent asset to all she worked for. She ended her career as an executive assistant when she retired from John Deere Insurance in 1998. In retirement, Marilyn enjoyed traveling and spending several winters in Florida with Carl and many dear friends.
Marilyn loved her family dearly and was a true giver. She never missed an opportunity to send a card, or a personalized gift. Sweets were ever-present, and trips to Whitey’s Ice Cream and Bishops for their famous chocolate pie where common occurrences with her grandchildren. She made each person feel special and was always available for a heart-to-heart talk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and niece, Susan (Weaver) Woodard.
She was loved and will be missed by those who survive her, including children Randy (Chris) Albers and Dayna Albers; loving grandchildren, Katie (Grayson) Path, Neika Watts, Stephen (Lacey) Albers, Solan Watts, and Megan Albers; a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter; brothers Gary (Linda) Weaver and Rod (Bev) Weaver and nephews and nieces.
